Abstract der Forschungsarbeit
Within the scope of this work, experimental investigations were carried out on friction reduction using synthetic and water-containing lubricants in elastohydrodynamically lubricated contact. For this purpose, the mineral oil MIN100 and the synthetic lubricant PAO were examined to obtain reference values. The lubricants PG, also a synthetic lubricant, and the water-containing lubricant based chemically on water-soluble polyglycol WAT yielded the coefficients of friction µ, which were then compared with those of the reference values about the reduction of the coefficients of friction µ. The results were measured under Hertzian pressures of pH = {800, 1000, 1200} N/mm², mean speeds vm = {0.5…2.5} m/s and a Slide-to-roll ratio = {0..100} % on the Mini-Traction Machine (MTM 2). From the friction coefficients µ, which were measured separately for each mean speed, mean friction coefficients were determined, which are averaged over the respective Hertzian pressure pH.
It was found that the PG and WAT lubricants were able to achieve significantly lower mean friction coefficients  than the reference lubricants. A maximum reduction of the mean coefficients of friction of -96.5% was observed between the water-based lubricant WAT and the mineral oil MIN100 at a  Hertzian pressure of pH = 1000 N/mm².
